Eddie Howe’s team have a lot of work to do if they are wanting to stay in the Premier League after tonight’s performance against Crystal Palace.
Palace took the lead early on with a curling Luka Milivojevic free-kick that was tipped onto the side of the post by Aaron Ramsdale’s finger-tips. This goal marks the first time Palace have scored in the first 20 minutes of a Premier League match this season.
Shortly after, Patrick van Aanholt played a quick one-two down the left side and cut it back to the Ghanian international, Jordan Ayew, to comfortably side-foot the ball home in a penalty area full of Bournemouth players.
Bournemouth did not have any counter after the goals went in, Crystal Palace went into cruise control and dominated the game until the end. The last time Palace scored two goals in the first half was against Bournemouth, last season. Which shows how poor Bournemouth was tonight and that palace have not exactly been scoring many. Palace fans must have been surprised or even shocked to have had two goals in such quick succession.
Roy Hodgson has got his team consistent and strong in defence and looking dangerous in attack with the pace of Zaha, Ayew and Van Aanholt. Hodgson has now led his men to four Premier League wins on the bounce. The last time this happened was in 2014 reaching five wins in a row
Crystal Palace is now sitting comfortably in the top ten, just four points of Manchester United who are in the last European spot. It is a positive step in the right direction for the Eagles.
Bournemouth next game is away to Wolves on Wednesday 24th June and Crystal Palace head to the awaiting Champions Liverpool later that night.
