The Cleaveland Browns and Baker Mayfield finally click
The Cleveland Browns won their first game of the year against the Cincinnati Bengals because of a strong performance from their running back Nick Chubb. Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield both had solid games but Cleveland managed to beat them 35-30.
The Chicago Bears get their second win of the season against the New York Giants
The Bears continued their solid play and managed to beat the Giants comfortably in a dull game. Even though they are 2-0 the Bears’ performances are not convincing. On top of the loss, the Giants lost Saquon Barkley to an ACL tear for the rest of the season.
Dallas Cowboys come back from nowhere to defeat the Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons blow a 20 point lead against the Dallas Cowboys who won the game 39-40. Dak Prescott was magnificent and instrumental in the comeback and threw for 400 yards and ran for three TD’s. The game was won with the last kick of the game by Greg Zuerlein from 46 yards.
Aaron Rodgers dominates against the Detroit Lions
After a rough first quarter, the Green Bay Packers dominated the Detroit Lions. The key to the Packers win was running back Aaron Jones who had 236 total yards and 3 touchdowns. Green Bay eventually won 21-42.
Stephen Gostkowski comes through for Tennessee for the second week in a row
The game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans was one of the closest of the weekend. The Titans managed to edge out the Gardner Minshew-led Jaguars by 3 points, Stephen Gostkowski hit the game-winning 49-yard field goal to put the final score on the board with 1:36 left.
Phillip Rivers gets his first win for the Colts
A game that wasn’t nearly as close was between the Minnesota Vikings and the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts’ offence dominated the Vikings defence by scoring 28 points quite easily while their defence shut down the Vikings’ offence. Their offence only managed to have 175 yards while also having 3 turnovers. The final score 11-28 drops the struggling Vikings to 0-2.
Josh Allen Shines for Buffalo as they go onto 2-0
One of the most exciting games this weekend was the one between the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. Josh Allen had one of the best games of his career, he threw for 417 yards and threw for 4 touchdowns as the Bills defeated the Dolphins 31-28. In his third year as a Bills quarterback, Allen is improving his passing game with a weapon of an arm and talented receivers on the roster such as Stephon Diggs and John Brown. Behind Allen’s strong performance the Bills improve to 2-0.
San Fransico win against New York despite losing key starters
A fairly one-sided affair between the San Fransico 49ers and the New York Jets with the former comfortably beating the latter 31-13. Despite a very convincing win, there was some bad news for the 49ers as they lost several key players such as Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas and Raheem Mostert to injuries.
The L.A Rams comfortably beat the Philadelphia Eagles
Another NFC West team that one their game convincingly was the Los Angeles Rams. They managed to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 37-19 behind another solid game from Jared Goff who managed to throw 3 touchdowns. The Rams go 2-0 whilst the Eagles go the opposite to 0-2.
Kyler Murray takes over against The Washington Football Team
We can stay in the theme of winning NFC West teams as the Arizona Cardinals continued their strong performance after a surprising week 1 win over the 49ers, the Cardinals easily beat Washington 15-30 after another great performance from dual-threat quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray had 286 passing yards, 1 TD to Deandre Hopkins and ran for 2 TD’s himself.
A game of two battling MVP quarterbacks
The final NFC West win of the week was the most difficult as the Seattle Seahawks faced the New England Patriots. Russel Wilson continued his amazing start of the season by throwing 5 touchdowns but Cam Newton also had a very good game. Newton threw for 397 yards but was stopped on the one-yard line on the final play of the game. Kind off a heartbreak 30-35 loss for the Patriots but Newton’s strong performance gives hope for the coming weeks.
Pittsburgh Steelers Come through and defeat The Denver Broncos
Another one-score game was the one between the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Broncos suffered some horrific injuries on offence such as Jerry Jeudy, Drew Lock and Courtland Sutton. This still didn’t make the game easy for the Steelers as Bronco’s back-up quarterback Jeff Driskel put up a fight and on the last play of the game, he was stopped by Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds on 4th and 2. The Broncos spirited comeback didn’t materialise and they fall to 0-2 by losing 21-26 to the Steelers.
Tom Brady picks up his first win as a Buccaneer
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bounce back after their week 1 loss by beating the Carolina Panthers comfortably 17-31. Brady threw for 217 yards with 1 TD and an interception.
Another new player for the Buc’s, Leonard Fornette, who rushed for 103 yards and had two rushing TD’s. A big concern for Carolina was their star player Christian McCaffery going off injured and who already two TD in the game.
Herbert is special in an unlucky defeat to the Cheifs
Kicker Harrison Butker saves the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime after an amazing game from Chargers’ rookie quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert stepped in for Tyrod Taylor who was injured during the warmup and the 6th overall pick looked immediately comfortable. It wasn’t a fairy tale debut though has he fell just short after the Cheifs won it with a 58-yard field goal in overtime which pushed the Chiefs to a 20-23 win.
Baltimore Ravens flourish whilst the Houston Texans get demolished
After a slow first half from the Baltimore Ravens, they eventually pulled away from the Houston Texans in the second half to win 33-16. The Texans on the other hand keep struggling as Watson tries to create something with the little help he has.
The new Las Vegas Raiders start with a powerful win over the New Orlean Saints
A surprise win from the Oakland Raiders on Monday night over the New Orleans Saints who missed the always reliable wide receiver, Michael Thomas. Derek Carr outperformed himself with 3 TD passes on the night and pushed the Raiders to a 24-34 victory in the new Las Vegas Stadium.
